“Freedom in the World 2010” report classed Montenegro with the status of a free country, 15.01.2010.
Freedom House (non-governmental organisation) has released it's
“Freedom in the World 2010” report. It comments that last year,
progress was recorded in the sector of political rights
and civil freedoms across the Western Balkans in contrast to global
trends in 2009.
The report highlights that the biggest progress recorded in the Western Balkans was
in Montenegro. As a result of Montenegro improving civil freedoms it went from the category
of 'partially free' to the category of 'free' countries. It was stated that this was the
result of improvements in the electoral process in Montenegro. (Source: Freedom House)
