The
Association of European Airlines
, representing Europe’s most important network carriers, has expanded
its membership to 36 from the beginning of January, with the addition
of Aegean Airlines, Air Baltic and Montenegro Airlines.
"Aegean Airlines is AEA’s second member from Greece. It is a dynamic,
stronglygrowing airline serving an extensive domestic and European
network with 33 aircraft. Air Baltic, as the national airline of
Latvia, not only operates an extensive network from Riga, but also
provides links from Vilnius in Lithuania to major European points," AEA
informed.
It has 31 aircraft. Montenegro Airlines is smaller, with seven
aircraft, but is growing strongly with links from Europe’s newest
sovereign state to the EU’s major hubs.
Said AEA Secretary General Ulrich Schulte-Strathaus: “Within the
challenging business environment that surrounds aviation at the present
time, it is encouraging that three new member airlines have recognised
AEA’s role in promoting the interests of the airline sector. It is
remarkable that AEA’s three newest members represent different segments
of the industry, and demonstrates the diversity and inclusivity of the
organisation, working for the good of the airline community across a
broad range of issues”. (Source: finchanel.com)
